It all started with a housing project in Berlin called “Happy Pigeons”
Our Story
It all started in Berlin with a community-focused housing project called Happy Pigeons Coliving. Our goal? To bring people from diverse backgrounds together and tackle modern loneliness in our fast-growing cities. Seven years on, our flock has grown to about 40 residents and coworkers.
Over time, we’ve tackled multiple renovation projects—starting out traditionally but quickly shifting to natural materials. Owning and managing these buildings ourselves has shown us exactly what it means to be fully invested, from successes to setbacks.
Now, we’re looking beyond our own walls. By sharing our experience and know-how about eco-friendly construction, we hope to inspire others to embrace greener methods and create healthier, happier living spaces for everyone—because raising awareness of sustainable building is where we believe we can make the biggest environmental impact.

Marc
The Space Maker & Project Coordinator
Marc has always been drawn to creating spaces that feel good—places that are not just functional but truly connected to people and nature. He started studying architecture, but his real passion for the practical side of building led him to co-found Happy Pigeons Coliving instead. Now, he focuses on hands-on construction, coordinating projects, and working with natural materials to create more sustainable & healthy living environments.

Kai
The Planner & Big-Picture Thinker
Kai loves turning ideas into reality—whether it’s mapping out a project, crunching numbers, or figuring out the smartest way forward. With a background in Innovation Management and a love for architecture, he’s always thinking about how to make things more efficient and sustainable. His time living in the U.S. and France shaped his passion for community-driven spaces. When he’s not deep in spreadsheets or plans he’s most likely climbing—whether in the gym or out in nature.

Joel
The Hands-On Builder & Problem-Solver
If something needs to be built, fixed, or figured out, Joel is the one to call. His journey from marine engineer to eco-rebel with Sea Shepherd and then to natural builder has been anything but conventional. Having built clay houses in Portugal and Australia, he’s passionate about using natural materials to create better living spaces. Always preferring action over endless discussions, he’s happiest when getting his hands dirty on a project. When he’s not working on a build, you’ll find him bouldering, traveling, or dreaming up the next adventure.
