The Clay Wall Project

At Happy Pigeons Coworking, we set out to enhance the indoor climate of our kitchen by applying a clay plaster finish to an already plastered wall. The challenge? Clay doesn’t easily adhere to smooth surfaces. After extensive research—considering everything from a straw base to manually roughening the existing plaster—we discovered a simple yet effective solution: a natural primer made primarily of marble powder and marble grit. This primer was easy to apply, dried quickly, and provided the perfect foundation for our clay plaster. The next day, we applied clay plaster, which dried beautifully in just two days. Rather than a completely smooth finish, we embraced the natural, textured look, creating a surface that not only improves air quality but also brings a sense of calm and warmth to the space..
